Bike looks badass man, but the big *** sundowner seat has to go......IMHO
No....I still have the little seat that came with the bike (It's pictured in the first post of this thread) it's about as comfortable as sitting on a bed of nails.
I'll be keeping the seat just the way it is, thank you.
I don't build bikes for looks, I build them for function and simplicity and to fit the kind of riding I do.
If the bike looks cool to someone, OK but if it doesn't....I'll live.
Yah I have tried the badlander seat too. It nice a sleek, but feels like riding on a 2x4. If sundowner works for u then more power man.
I like where your heading with those bags and fairing. One of my buddies just put a set of those gloss black bags on his 2001. Look great.
It's funny, The Badlander looks a lot like a Corbin Gunfighter, but it's way less comfortable.
Like I said before, I rode that FXRT for 21 years and then sold it a couple of years ago.
I like that whole concept, but wanted/needed a bike with a lot fewer miles on it. (I had over 300K on the RT)
I like the slight amount of extra rake on the FXDWG frame, but not much else about the style of the bike.
Like every other bike I've ever had....I just take what I have and turn it into what I want.
I have an 06 fxdwg and NEED to get rid of the bobtail fender as well. Just not a fan of it. What fender did you use? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just used a stock FXD fender that I had laying around.
Those fenders are all over ebay for a few bucks.
The wide glide fender and the FXD fender are the same width from year model to year model, just make sure that you get one that'll fit the year bike that you have.
They have gotten progressively wider over the years.
I do know that a '01 fender can be made to work up to '06 because they are almost the same width and a couple of thin spacers will make a early fender fit a later bike and the '06 fenders will slip into an '01 frame without any problems.
As I said before...My fender is an '06 FXD and it bolted right into my '01.
I have the typical bobtail fender. I don't hate it but I'm not a huge fan. I'd to love to get one similar to a Rocker C; I love that look with a Wide Glide and the single seat, ugh, nice. Too many projects and too little funds, as usual.
