So I am looking to add a windshield to the fat bob. Most of my riding is at pretty high speeds, highway... So I am pretty sure I want to get a removable windshield I can take off if I want to ride with out. I know the memphis shades ones are supposed to be pretty nice, I have also ready good things about one made by national cycles.
I want something that is going to do a decent job but not look stupid either. Some of the windshields I have seen look terrible. Could someone shed some light on a good windshield for me? Maybe some photos too, I have a 2012 Fat Bob.
I got tis one last year. it offers great protection and looks pretty good compared to HD detachables. Not to mention 1/4 the price the price. They also make them with tint for a little extra!
I am in the process of adding this one. It's an aftermarket BMW R1100GS windshield. May or may not go with the look you want, but the shield is only about $100. I am still figuring out how to mount it - I have about $12 in rubber coated P-clips for the forks and bars and need to make up some ali strip brackets for the rest of the mounting.
I'd prefer a quick detach solution, but here in the UK the quick detach clamps are expensive, so I'll wait for a trip to the US to pick some up.
I am fine with the wind blast until about 75mph, but anything over that for any period of time and it gets tiresome. I think a windshield is a a good idea, but just haven't yet found a specific one that I like the look of 100% and is a decent price.
I felt the same about wind shields for my street Bob and was leaning to Memphis shades too. I found a HD detachable for a $100 and couldn't pass it up. It's not as ugly as I thought it would be and I'm glad I have it
