I am going to install a BDL compensator and M6 tensioner soon, I might want to put a new starter motor while I am there. What do you recommend? I want something stronger than OEM, my 107 is hard to crank when hot even I have compression release lol. Thanks! Alex
I replaced my stock with a Twin Power 1.4kW, worked great but had issues. Went back to stock then Drag Specialties 1.4kW starter, got a decent price when LSHD was still selling online. Been problem free for 2 years now.
Alex you are cranking it as soon as the pump activates right? I mean don't wait until the pump stops that kills your chances of starting. If your haveing issues with a 107 without headwork you may have another problem. I found that mine had a hard time starting if the powervision was trying to start at the same time. The cure is start the bike and then plug the PV in after a couple minutes. The PV won't do anything until the engine temp is 170F* anyways.
This starting problem is hit and miss, 8 out of 10 start fine. Sometimes I ride only 20 mins, shut the motor off and try to start it, it feels like the starter works so hard. If I don't start it the first 2 revs, it will take me a while, maybe 3 cranks? Then additional fuel and smoke came out the opened air cleaner. I also think it has something to do with fuel management, I remember seeing something like start up fuel in win pv software. It happened once cold start as well. I will contact FM next week and see what they recommend. Either way I am upgrading the starter while I open the primary, it was on my list lol
Yes, I do wait too the pump primes then started. I will try what you just mentioned, keep you posted. Another thing I have done is rev it up before I shut off the motor, it seemed to help after I cleared the cylinders on shut off.

revving up before shut down is only for babe-head-turning!!!!
PS mine has trouble when hot if I use the comp releases, so when I stop just for gas or pee - no comps.
Well I just tried what you told me to do, even worse. It seemed to start right away after I clear gas on shut off. I will play with winpv start up fuel a bit till I talk to fuelmoto.
