rear fender support brackets. 2014 fxdl
Good morning. I'm putting some Harley hard bags on my 2014 low rider and I'm wondering if anyone knows if the brackets that are inside the rear fender are absolutely necessary? My old 97 dyna didn't have these. I want to hard mount them with nuts and bolts and dispose of the inner bracket. Anyone know if this is ok or is that inner bracket really necessary? Thanks in advance.

I would seriously keep that bracket...it gives more support...without it I would think that potentially you could get some "pulling" around the bolt holes or reamed holes over a period of time...any reason why you would not like to keep them?
