Default 07 Wide Glide rear wheel

Howdy,

I'm new to Harleys and could use some help identifying a rear wheel on my bike and the cheapest route out of it.

I bought the bike a week ago and like everything about it except the color of the rear wheel. Thought it would grow on me, it hasn't.

Not sure how this bike got the wheel in that color and not the front but it has to go. If I could source another one like it, but in chrome, that would be optimal.

The bike came with the 180/60-17 Dunlop tire. I like it and wouldn't mind keeping it but if it starts getting expensive to replace this wheel I'd just as soon get a spoke wheel and run a 160 on it. Not even sure what size that is at this point but sure could use some ideas, or hear about what options I have. Any and all will be appreciated.

Looks like the stock wheel, just purple for some reason. Maybe he was trying to make it black and it came out purple?
There is 2 different style rims, the standard style and the smooth domed style you have. If I remember right Harley calls the smooth rims like that "profile laced". If the finish doesn't come off you should be able to buy a new rim and lace it to your existing hub.
Wide Glides came stock with 180 rear tires I think.

Due to works server limits I can't see the pic. If it is a 2007 wideglide the stock rear tire is a 160/70B17 and the wheel "should" be a 17 x 4.5

160/70B17 is correct. Just double checked my owners manual.

Ok, so based on you guys and some reading I've been doing, these wheels could be the factory upgrade I saw mentioned briefly somewhere. The color thing still doesn't make sense but that's fine.

It looks like anodizing to me so maybe I can remove that and polish back to white chrome, or buy another one and lace my hub to it like Reindeer suggested.

Thanks for looking at the manual perki48. I see you're in Sandpoint. My folks live in Fruitland, quite a bit south of you. The web sure makes the world a small place.
