Default fxdx ignition switch wires hot to touch

hi all i have a 2005 fxdx that i have just replaced steering head bearings in washed and rode next day to the store started back up and died.I tried restarting all i had was the odometer lights on the acc mode no lights in ON position ,wiggled the wires and everything worked again,i did notice water in the connectors so dried them up started up and rode home. It currently works now but the wires out of the ignition switch are hot to the touch but only on the switch wires themselves,i dont believe this is normal. Im thinking it is the switch but not positive was seeing if anyone has ever had this problem, also i was gonna take the switch apart but doesnt look like it will come apart atleast very easily or without me destroying it. sorry for long post but only way to get all the info on here I appreciate any help John

Were the wires hot right after cranking the motor or after it had run for a while? I would expect them to be hot if you had just been cranking it over, especially if it was hard to start due to wet connectors.
What connectors were wet?

Look and see if the connections are corroded ....that will make them heat up

no it gets hot with just turning the key on not even trying to start basically a few seconds after switching the key on,it was just the connectors that hook up to the leads off the 3 wires on the switch.

the wires had a little corrosion i cleaned them up a bit and put di-electric grease on them but still does it. I would like to tear ignition switch apart just not sure if it comes apart that easily theres no snap ring as i have read about other switches having if theres a trick to it i would sure give it a shot

Default Hot switch

Same problem on my 2000 Buell. It has a dyna HD ignition switch on it, very hot to the touch hot enough to have discolored the wires themselves. So hot as to have made the epoxy on the back of the switch soft. Other Buells have had the same problem following threads on the Buell forum. Most replaced the switch with one from American sport bike as the OEM switch was so expensive. The suggestion from others was to replace the switch OEM but build a dam out of tape on the back of the switch 1/2 to 3/4 in wide and fill it with additional epoxy to act as a heat sink. I haven't done any of these yet. Just hoping someone that really knows posts a reply that I can use too. Jonathan
