have an 06 low rider, the other day ridin to work noticed that she felt a little loose around corners. Not tight corners and not at high speeds. Not sure what to check. Im fairly new to hd. Ive checked axles and tire pressure and i seems to be all good. Question is will a fork brace take this away. Or what else should i check. Thanks in advance for any suggestion to solve this problem
Fork braces really don't do much until you start pushing the bike into corners hard that have rough spots in them.. The first thing to do is check the steering and swing arm bearings.. Check the top fork bolts, top engine link, motor mounts and drive train alignment. Add tire pressure, up to 4 lbs.. How many miles on the bike..
sounds like what you have been experiencing is from the swing arm being mounted to the rubber mounted engine. You dont have to push your bike that hard to feel it, especially with the stock suspension

Depends on who you ask. Some say fork braces do no good if you have 49mm fork tubes (your 2006 does). Others say fork braces help stabilize the front end.
I installed a Superbrace about 18 months ago and immediately noticed that "Ethel" (2006 FXDi35 Superglide with 49mm forks) didn't follow the road snakes anymore. That alone made it worth the $ to me.
bwoltz, my baby has 24k on her. Im thinking about replacing the stock fork springs with progressive stiffer springs. I talked to a few other people i ride with and got all different answers. Fork brace isnt to expensive so i might just do it if the stiffer springs dont work. Thanks for all the ideas, i will be checking all the above this weekend. Thanks again guys
Fork braces always seem controversial. I have one on my '01 and I do feel it made a difference, It also made a difference to put cartridge fork emulators and heavier springs in the fork. It also made a difference to add the Sputhe frame stabilizer. And it certainly made a difference going to Avon tires.
Now on your 06 you have thicker fork tubes to start with which should be helpful to handling, I would think a fork brace would still be helpful but don't forget there are a lot of things that could help.

Agreed. Just haven't gotten around to doing the others (sure do like the idea of the cartridges from Progressive........waiting for a few more people to review them/compare them to emulators or intiminators)

If you're going to redo the forks I would also talk with Howard at Motorcyclemetal.com He's a pretty smart guy on suspension and may have something for the Dyna forks. If he doesn't have something he will have some good ideas I would think.
fork braces are good, easy cheap mod, and not only will they make the bike handle better they also make your front suspension do it's job better, you will have a smoother ride,, I'm sure they also prolong the life of your front end components.
