Exclamation HELP! Electrical nightmare 06 FXDI

So after 56k miles the bolts from the rotor to the compensator (genius idea) finally backed out into into the stator! so after disassembly and cleaning I got the new upgraded rotor thats welded instead of bolted. I confess I did cheap out and get the cheapest stator i could find. I put it all together and fired it up and I can only get battery voltage . the battery is older but holds a 12.5 voltage and cranks and runs bike. pulled the neg cable off while engine was running and it died. so that makes me think batt is good enough. So i bought a new cycle electric voltage regulator, no change. pulled the stator connector and checked AC voltage while running. its putting out good voltage but low for the RPM. all other stator checks good. I checked all the fuses and cleaned the ground all to no avail.
Anybody have any words of wisdom before I shotgun a new high quality stator and start over?

thanks for you time to read and respond.

if it putting out voltage the stator must be ok. wonder if you got a bum regulator? is there anything at all coming out the regulator? that rotor looks pretty rough in that pic though. Maybe it just the pic but looks like a few cracked or broken magnets. if that is the case i change it before one them magnets falls out and trashes every thing agian.

When you say it is putting out good voltage, what are your actual readings?

im getting 13-13.5 AC volts out of the stator at idle. i dont have a tach on this bike so my best guess by ear is that its running 900-1000 rpm. so that to me seems a little low, should be 16-18 im thinking at 1000. the original voltage regulator and the new one are putting out 0 volts! the wiring diagram doesnt show that the regulators need a ground because one wire goes to the ground stud. so is the stator not putting out enough to kick the regulator on? the old regulator was working fine when stator died. i find it hard to believe that both regulators are just dead. what am i missing?

Here's what's in the 07 Manual; Alternator AC voltage output - 16-23 VAC per 1000 RPM. Alternator stator coil resistance - 0.1-0.2 ohms. Regulator voltage output @ 3600 RPM -14.3-14.7@75 degrees F. Regulator amperes @ 3000 RPM - 35-50 amps. Check Stator resistance then the output to the regulator. Sounds like the stator is bad. Original regulator and replacement had no output, that has to tell ya something.

stator resistance is good and open to ground. i didnt check voltage output at speed. but even at idle shouldn't i get at least some voltage output out of regulator?

you ask me the stator is working fine
yes you should be able to get voltage from the VR
touch one prong with your positive tester and the other to ground on the bike somewhere, unless you already did that
