Default Exhaust Pipes for Lowered Dyna Thread

Alright Im sorry to start another exhaust thread - but ive been searchin all over and found a lot of info but not specifically suited to what im looking for - also didn't wana hijack another recent exhaust thread.

Im looking for ideas for the best kind of pipes for my lowered wide glide - I know im kinda wanting the best of both worlds (looks and performance) and its a struggle sometimes, easy solution would be to throw on some 13" shocks but im trying to see if I can make this work.

I have the burly slammer kit (10.5" shocks) and stock pipes with V&H slip on mufflers currently - they scrape all over the damn place ive already worked through the heat shield and onto the muffler itself (no matter how I try to be careful I cant)

1st obvious choice or me was always the V&H short shots - I was sold on these for a while and then on the fence but am starting to lean towards wanting a 2-1 pipe. I know plenty of ppl run them fine with a decent tune or fuel management but I don't wana end up regretting not getting a better pipe if it means 10 more hp or something, plus I had them on my sporty and they were LOUD and not realy the good kind. didn't mind it too much but would like a deeper rumble. They would clear my bags and get good clearance though

Oh yea one last thing is I run saddlebags so I cant have something that's TOO upswept like the D&D bobcats.

Ive narrowed down to:
V&H Short shots (look great/cheap, work for my specs but worried bout poor performance/ bad exhaust note)

pic borrowed from a member

D&D bobcat (looked like a winner till I realized couldn't use bags with them)

D&D fat cat (not much better than stock maybe cus of length?)

Bassani RR 1D5250 (looks lke a potential winner?)

Bassani RR 1D12RB (top pick too- el headers, but bag clearance im worried about again)

V&H Competition

Supertrapp Supermeg (looks like awesome pipe performance wise, not sure about dragging it though with the length)

Bub7

Heres stock (anything that sits a little higher will help!)

As you can see im leaning towards 2-1, I love the look of straight 2-2 pipes and I know some ppl have good luck with them if tuned right some even better #s than 2-1s but also that typically speaking the 2-1s outperform them. im no racer but as the years go on and starting to lean more towards performance over looks (though not enough to raise my bike back up apparently)

This is a shoutout to you lowered dynas who run saddlebags to see what pipes your running and how much of a problem scraping you have - As of this moment im thinking the supertrapp Bassani road rage - either the 1D12RB or 1D5250 shorty - but I keep changing my damn mind! What you all think? Thanks!

Alright guys I'm sorry I been going over these things for weeks now and as soon as I put it down here in front of me I think the answer was obvious to me. I'm leanin towards the bassanis now for a 2-1 for my application and somehow missed this other thread which basically answered my questions for bags and clearance.

Bassani Road Rage, Model Clarification and Questions??

On the phone but search that and you'll see what I mean if your in a similar boat to me. Mods feel free to delete this if you want thanks.

The short bassani muffler type has the best clearance.

They are designed for mid to upper range power band.
The longer version like the B1 if you lower it much the front header in the lower bend will crape. Could not use them on my 10 wide glide with 11 inch shocks

thanks yeah I had heard that somewhere i think. im thinking the short bassanis makes the most sense for what im going after -either that or the short shots. The looks of the 2-1 are growing on me and if I can gain a few hp/tq or even keep the same vs possibly losing some with the short shots i'll be happy. And either way if I can corner a little harder than I can now i'll be super happy

I do tend to stay in the low to mid power band but that's maybe cus my pipes sound like crap past 4k and I feel like the power drops off too - maybe with these i'll be able to/wanting to push it farther. Of course the short shots are drag pipes too and may be best even further up the power band than the bassanis. I'll be honest tho besides the clearance the main reason I want some new pipes is for a deeper sound lol, the wide glide is kinda quiet imo and I just want more of that Harley rumble when im cruising!

So tempted to click the add to cart button now..

personally i like the road rage the most... i run a bub lakester however it has been modded to sweep up as my bike has 8"-14" travel adjustement and even at 10" the stock bub would hit in turns... road rage makes good power, looks good, and has a sweep to it. good pipe we coat them pretty often

Thanks for the confirmation man. I looked at a thread with your lakester in it forgot I was considering that too but then I realized you had modded it. Yeah I'm officially sold on the short bassani, going to order from Fuel Moto with a power vision right now.. Hopefully will post back with pics next week sometime would love to throw it on in time for the rib cook off up in Reno! But I'll definitely be adding to the "street vibrations" come September either way lol. So stoked been wanting some exhaust since the day I bought the bike!

just an update I ended up getting the bassani road rage 2-1 1D5250 and theyre awesome for anyone else with a lowered dyna.. I have more clearance than I can use now although I just put em on last weekend and haven't had a chance to really test em out in the twisties - im going to take them for a spin this weekend.

The sound is okay its actually not as bad or loud as I was thinking, but also not as deep as I would like but I expected that with the shorter pipes. I ordered them with a power vision from fuel moto they sent me a map and it seems to be working good so far- I just took it for a little spin but no more decel popping and the bike feels noticeably quicker at least from the seat of the pants.

On a side note on bassani my pipes came in without the transmission mount which sucked cus I already had my stockers off and everything ready to go before I noticed - but I called Kurt and he overnighted one to me which came in the next day so I wasn't down very long at all - and got a follow up email making sure it came in ok- thumbs up for customer service as far as im concerned. Same with fuel moto seem like great guys over there, thanks again.
