only whats in the filter, install now if you want doing a extra early service wont hurt it, the only issue I had with mine too instal the filter mount , you need a big hex key/allen 11mm I used as its all I could find, its A/F but none off the local shops stocked one.
The problem with the Harley oem one is the frame mounting brackets, they are sort off multi fit ,and had too use rubber too space them tighter too the frame,,,, The jagg set up is a lot better
I'm just received a Jeggs low mount oil cooler for my 13 Fat Bob - you should only lose a small amount of oil when you pull the filter - here is a good item to get if you don't already have one - http://formafunnel.com
It would depend on when you think you might hit your 1k mileage - if in the next few weeks, I'd wait until you plan to do this.
I have a 14 Fat bob, my first HD, and just purchased the HD oil cooler that mounts to the down tube. I have a few questions on the install:
How much oil will come out if I just remove the filter and not drain all the oil?
Should I wait until the first service /oil change to install the cooler (have 600 miles on it)?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
It is time to change the dino oil anyway...........
Before you pull the oil filter, get some craft paper and make it look like a half pipe slide it under your oil filter, put some rags under that to catch the excess oil when you pull the filter. Once you have the rags and half tube craft paper in place punch two hole's on the bottom outside edge and two hole's on the top outside edge and let it drain while you are draining the other compartment's.
Doing this will keep all oil from draining down on your motor mount and area's that are in accessible for cleaning........... You do not want the oil on the rubber part's on the front mount, it will shorten the life span of the part.
