I replaced my stock bulb with a brighter blue option for about 40 bucks and that seemed to help some at night, though LED lights are wicked bright and a much better option.

I am interested in the daymaker also, but is the replacement bucket really needed?

yeah, I had a blue light installed or less than a day and it already stared meting my connector on my 03, , the newer connectors are better & can take the heat but even still those high power bulbs will still cause the reflectors to be coated with a black haze after a year or 2.

I went from stock, to HID, to day maker.

The HID is only a slight improvement over stock (price shows that. the light is scattered, not very usable, but it is brighter)

The Daymaker is a HUGE difference (price shows that) Definitely worth it IMO.
$320 from Kutter HD online.
Only drawback is the harsh cutoff line makes you lose some light if you're leaning over hard, but i'd still buy it again.

Are we talking 5 3/4" or 7"? I needed a Springer bucket to do the Daymaker on my Softail. The stock shallow bucket wouldn't accommodate the back of the 5 3/4" bulb.
I had the 7" TL7 on, in a 7" Fatboy bucket (not OEM) and it snapped the bucket ears. But it too is a great light. And only $189.

That why I was asking. It made sense to me because of the heat sink on the back of the daymaker, but no one would confirm that. That's why I was skeptical. Some on here say yes and some say no.

just put a plus 90 globe in, at $20 bucks a cheaper better light, being the same 55/60 there's no stress on your plug...
and spend the savings on some spot lights if then required

I've had it in for at least 3000 miles and I haven't noticed any problems so far. I haven't checked the wiring or connector inside the bucket though either.
