No softail trees on new dyna's. 06+ have 49mm tubes, not sure what softails are but arent 49mm. Probably 41mm so I would say no to direct swap. WG swap is cheap (relatively speaking)and easy.
Yeah, no $hit! I just confirmed this. Why would Harley put 49mm wide glides on the FXDWG but the old 41mm tubes on the Softies?

Was just at the dealer yesterday and was told the WG was 41mm. Sorry it may have changed for the 08 but obviously they are not very well infomed. As it is, I knew about the Cross Bones long before they did. LOL
I do believe that the 07 WG is 41mm must have changed with the 08s
06 and 07 dynas all have the same size tubes... 49mm.... as far as rake and trail goes, if you add JUST the wide glide trips to a bob, sg, sg custom, or low rider (all these models, with the exception of the low rider have 29 degrees at the neck- low rider is 30.5, i believe) you're going to increase the rake by 2 degrees at the trees and reduce the trail to slightly below spec (but safe) ...HOWEVER, if you compensate by adding the additional 2.5 inch length wide glide tubes you will remain within trail specs at around 4.3 ....adding the 21 inch tire helps, too
a bunch of us have done this.... search the boards, you'll find us...we posted at length about it all

After running my specs through the rake and trail calculator my Softie could get away with 5 degree trees because of how much I have lowered the rear, thus increasing neck rake/trail, and if I put the forks back to 32 inches.
If you guys hold your horses I may have a fix for the '06 up Dyna in about a week. Trying to get 3deg cups made for mine. I'll report on it as soon as I know more.

The thing I don't like about cups is the fact that they spread the trees apart. maybe i'm just overly picky.
