agreed all these posts saying the bike will ride like **** are from guys that have not rode them, i have rode bikes up to 30" wheels, as long as tehy are done right, the bike will ride awesome! i was doing 95 on a bagger with a 26 yesterday actually rode great! a 23" tire will ride and handle just fine, plus a 130 footprint is nice
I am running a 23x3.75 on my 2010 wide glide. It made a huge difference in the handling of the bike. I didn't notice any different in the actual ride quality. Coming from drag bikes and dirt bikes, I love the look of the narrow front wheel. However, I won't go back narrow on the street.
Yeah, that is what I'm referring to. The increased handling ability. If you have a 2.15" wide tire, you know what I'm talking about. It's sketchy over uneven pavement, lines in the road and grooved pavement. I know a lower profile tire does not improve ride comfort, but a wider wheel/tire will definitely improve the front end.
I thought about going with a 21x3.5, but I figured why the hell not just go with a 23 at that point? I'm already spending the money for the wider rim, why not spend a few bucks more and go with the aesthetics of a larger diameter rim?

Thanks Joe! I rode my buddy's street bob with a 23 and it rode real nice. That's kinda what helped me decided I want to go with the 23". And I can't imagine anyone having pushed a Wide Glide decently hard say that a bigger wheel/tire up front won't solve a number of the issues that bike has stock....
I may have to give you a shout on modding out a fat bob fender this winter. Thanks for all the advice brother.
Oh, and I will definitely be sending out my ignition switch to you this winter. It looks so out of place being chrome.
i like to customize my bike just like any other john doe, and if its for better preformance, well that's good too. but some of the huge front tires just look ridiculous. it's just another fad that will be gone in a few years like those long-*** occ choppers. unrideable or just uncomfortable to look cool to other people. i ride around 12k a year, not worried about the average joe i'm passing on the highway or trying to impress him at bike night
It all depends on tire profile in my opinion. Yes a 23 can ride just as good but usually when you go with taller wheels you go with a shorter tire. A shorter profile tire will not ride as good as a taller tire. That is what i was talking about and sure the other guys were to. I have yet to see a bagger with a 26 or 30 that didnt have a rubber band tire because it just doesnt look as good

exactly, looks like it does'nt even have air in it. been watching that bagger show on History, some of the bikes just look like a rolling easter egg. the rider looks tiny on these huge-*** bikes. it looks dumb. but that's just my opinion.

I guess you guys don't really understand the numbers that make up a tire size.
I currently have a stock 80/90-21 on my bike. That means that my side wall is 90% the size of my tire width of 80mm. So, I have 72mm of sidewall...
With a 120/70-23 I will have 70% of 120mm as sidewall = 84mm. In case your math is rusty, that's an additional 12mm of sidewall.
You dont need a different fender when going to a wider rim as posted above. Ive got a 10 wide glide and am running a 21x3.25 southern mc wheel and a 120 tire and it fills the front fender out and makes it hug the tire. Minimal clearance but it does fine. Im trying to post a pic with my phone but its not working. I'll try to later if i think about it. Also a 23 will not improve the ride
I got a set of wheels and tires from southern mc for right around 2k which is a damn good price for wheels and tires. They even have a package for rotors and a pulley that matches. For around the same with no rubber. Top notch customer service as well
Ditto on the 21 X 3.25 rim. That took all the shimmy/tracking in highway grooves out of my front end. I got my twisted 80 spoke from DNA. I am sure they would have what you want. another good place to look is eBay. I found my rear 80spoke on there for a song.
