Hello,
I am a long time rider of metric, naked bikes. I want to get a harley. I am torn between the awesomeness of the looks of a fat bob and the practical comfort of a road king.
I typically don't tour, or commute. I just cruise around town a few times a week.
Fat Bob....I've owned two Electra Glides and a Road King. For the riding you're gonna do, a bagger will get boring quickly. My Super Glide with forward controls is more comfortable than my Road King, and tons more fun. You said yourself you weren't gonna tour, why buy a touring bike?

Would you say the Fat Bob feels a little sportier and fun in that regard? I actually am a little worried about losing the sporty fun moments on a naked bike, but I tend to cruise most of the time.
Fat bob will suit your riding plan perfectly. Now if you had said you were going to ride more miles outside of town then the King would be the right choice.

Yes, the Fat Bob is a great bike, you can have a blast in the curvy roads, cruise around town on it, then throw a set of soft bags on it and take off for the week if you want. As I said, I've owned three baggers, and you'll be happier with the Fat Bob. Plus you'll save a lot of money buying a FatBob over a Road King.
Don't let anyone tell ya you can't be comfortable on a dyna. Tried a new road king recently and I felt I had more room and comfort on my 2002 wide glide. But I set my wide glide up to be a comfy ride and a semi bagger when I want it to be. Then I can remove it all in minuets and have a naked street bike. But one reason I prefer the wide glide is I'm long legged. Road king felt like sitting on top of a horse where I'm more IN the wide glide with more leg room. There's some really nice touring seats for when you want the dyna to be a couch on wheels and can throw stock one back on for solo good looks.
All personal preference though and nothing more. You may love the king
I have a 2013 Ninja 1000 sitting in my garage since I got my 2014 Wide Glide several weeks ago. It's a Blast and the ride is very comfortable especially the forward controls. I just did a couple +250 mile rides with ease!!
