Sounds like something is different from my 2012: Total distance = .575" to .675", the fork cap is about 3/8"(.375") so I pushed my tubes through 1/4"(.250") for a total of .625" which is in the middle of the SM range.
The 2010 manual which i was using was wrong. Now I get about 0.1" fork tube exposed. The stock cap was 0.400" height above tube, RSD about 1" so a difference of 0.6". Now I get about 1.1" from top of tree to top of cap (right at the 0.5" measurement if i had the stock caps on).

Glad you are ahead of me on this mod, learning!
Got your shocks back?
Ricor just got my shocks yesterday so could be a while before those come in. I'll be happy to just get the front end back together. .still have to deal with all the wiring. My switch housings, turn signals, are more or less gutted, gotta re-align the headlamp, etc. Time consuming.
Alan,
Looks like they changed the protrusion amount around 2012+ for the fork tubes to the spec you have. '09-'10 it's 0.45"-0.50" then goes to 0.575"-0.675". Not sure why the change, but regardless I have longer shocks than stock in the rear so a little taller forks in the front (less protrusion) isn't a bad thing. Will add height to the front as well.
