I seldom use a test light. Only reason I have one is it was given to me when I gave someone a meter. My meter has a buzzer position. Are you saying in the test light manual, it will not light with that low mA draw. Really make me wonder about that. That initial surge for 30 seconds is 12.8 volts and will generate a healthy spark.

I use a test light to find short to ground, but a voltmeter for anything else.

Warning lights...they will get your attention, so you can check the gauge.

Which would I rather have? The light.

Any indicator is better than no indicator...

I prefer meters or gauges. A light just tells me that I need to get out the meter and do it all again. I use a digital multimeter with a continuity buzzer to troubleshoot electrical/electronic problems. For monitoring any system health, I prefer an analog gauge because an analog gauge is easy to quickly scan and see if the system is operating in the safe range.

Now, if I could just find a decent small analog oil temperature gauge for my Super Glide...all the dip-stick oil temp indicators available are blue/black LCD digital that are practically worthless for monitoring oil temp in traffic, which is about the only time you would really need it.

Please take a look at : http://www.jescustomaccents.com/

I am using their analog dipstick on my 2013 Street Bob and it works perfectly.
