Thanks again for all the comments.

I'm leaning towards a 88c.u., a little less electronics with mid controls. I might miss the 6sp sometimes but, if I want to run 80mph on the interstate for more than an hour or so, I'll put it in the back of the truck. Interstates these days aren't for me on a bike, its just not riding or fun, sux bad enough on 4 wheels.

I can be at the beach or the mountains in less than 3hrs and never touch the "I" road.

Rivershot,

Seriously look at the midglide 49 mm forks on the 06-07 and newer bikes vs the narrow glide 39 mm forks on the 05 and earlier models. It might change your mind, might not. For me the larger forks are worth the price of admission.

Good luck and enjoy what ever you choose.

Cheers,

Tom

Exactly, a carbed 88 will actually outrun most newer large bore Dyna's in everyday riding, unless you're talking about interstate cruising. '05 XL1200R to '04 FXDL here with a Triumph Tiger 955i in the middle. After the obligatory seat change, the Low Rider is more comfortable for long rides than either of the previous bikes and I enjoy it's mid-range torque. I also prefer mid controls for normal driving with highway pegs for when I want to stretch out and have had this setup on my last 3 bikes. I put better and longer shocks and upgraded the forks on the FXDL and it now works well in the mountains. Okay, nowhere's near as fast as the Tiger but that's to be expected and not really a bad thing.

I kept throwing money at my 13 iron 883 thinking eventually I would be comfortable on it. I rode down to bike week this last spring and hated it all the way there. Did some demo rides and decided a dyna was right for me and my wallet. I would have honestly went with a street glide if I could afford it. When I got back I started comparing the models with features and prices in mind and the new 14 low rider checked all the right boxes for me. Looking back I don't even know how I put 11k on my sportster. The low rider is literally 10 times more comfortable maybe even more. I rode my buddy's iron a few weeks ago and couldn't wait to get off and back on my low rider. Worth every penny
