Default 06 Dyna Rotor and Compensator

Hey all, I've got an 06 dyna rotor and compensator looking for a new home.
I bought it in september of last year, and upgraded my rotor and stator from the stock dyna rotor/stator with welded rotor assy. I then purchased a screamin eagle compensator assy which comes with another rotor, so I have duplicate and triplicate parts needing to go. The rotor has about 3 months of light use on it, it was a rough winter, so didn't ride much and I installed my s/e comp/rotor a couple months back so almost like new on this rotor. I'm also including the stock compensator/spring, sprocket, I can't use it now either. It will all come to you via this nifty box that harley shipped mine in as well.

75 bucks shipped to you in the lower 48, would go real well with muds new stator assy, he's selling. Any questions, give me a shout. I prefer paypal.

Nope, the stator, and rotor I had bought at the time to replace stock was the 06 replacement, which is an 07 stator and rotor. The stator and winding themselves are different as are the magnets on the newer 07 and up rotors. Well after I had bought this, I hadn't dont my home work enough to know that a screaming eagle compensator comes with another rotor assy, so now I had two 3 rotors, stators, and two compensators.
I'm using the the newer stator and the screaming eagle compensator, the original stator is I believe a 38 amp statory which I believe won't fit with the newer rotors, because the windings and magnets are different.

That's why I mentioned in the post, mud was selling a newer stator assy himself, and the two would of made someone a almost new stator/rotor kit for considerably less than new from HD..

I just received a rotor stator kit for my 06 with the same part # as your boxes in the pic. The stator bolted in fine but the rotor wouldn't fit past the primary housing. Called in the part # and found out it was for an 07. So my question is are those parts out of those boxes? And if so why would an 07 up part with the exact # fit on your bike and not mine?(same model same year) Not Tryin to blow ur thread up but I'm curious.

If I'm not mistaken I believe you are supposed to remove the inner primary to reach the rotor. There are some that have done some creative grinding to be able to get the rotor on but for me it's easier to just pull it and do it the right way.

This statement is correct. If you removing the rotor and deffinitely if you are replacing the rotor with the newer 07, you either have to remove the primary housing, or you have to do some grinding on the inner primary housing. I think MUD or some of the other guys did this grinding method, so they're pictures showing the area to grind and how much. I chose to remove the primary housing, didn't want to do the grinding issue, especially since the 06's had issues with the primary bearing going out
I strongly encourage you if you are in there removing the primary housing, to replace the bearing with a baker bearing, there are tons of comments in the dyna section on that as well..

yessir mr. cactus. you are correct.

here's a link to a HowTo that I posted

and, a couple pix from there............................................. ......

On some machines, the rotor will come out with the inner primary cover in place.

I used a high speed grinder with a thin 2" wheel,

and removed about 1/16" from the lip of the inner primary cover
from about 6 oclock to 9 oclock

blue marks show where material needs trimming for removal/install of rotor.
material is removed from the inside edge. Not from the gasket surface.

So there was not a clearance issue with the rotor once past the inner primary cover?
