Twin cam - kills the ignition when trying to engage the starter?
Just experienced my Fatboy/1999 with Twincam engine. When engaging the starter button, all I hear is a "click" and ignition lamps goes black..
Checked the fusebox - all good. Checked the ignition switch - all good. All the wiring seems to be OK.
Is there some kind of thermofuse connected to the starter?
Your help is very much appreciated.
Peter
It sounds like a weak battery or a poor electrical connection.
First check the cheap and easy stuff...
Make sure the battery is fully charged, and have a shop load test it (in the states, an auto parts store will do this for free).
Make sure all the battery connections are clean and secure (the cable from the battery to the solenoid, the cable from the solenoid to the starter motor, and the ground cable at the battery and frame).
There is no fuse on the starter circuit on any vehicle. Way too much current passing through the circuit.
