Default Security System Install

I know that security FOBs have to be programmed by the dealer. The question is, will the bike start after installing the system and before the programming of the FOBS? Forgive my ignorance.

No it will not start, the older bikes you could marry the ignition, security and the fob yourself, I do not know about the new bikes. It woul be on your manual.

You did not say what year, if the bike is pre 07 (i believe) and you are just replacing the fob, and the bike is disarmed then it will start.

I have a 2013 fat on fxdf and I am trying to get the system to marry too. The old instructions are not right. I added all of the parts but the system gets error code for. Ad password which means the bcm and the ecu are not synchronized. Worst case I am going to the dealer to program the fobs, but I would like to have the bcm working before then... Any help available to get me past this one step would be nice.
Thanks.

It can't be done I had the same issue and had to trailer bike to Stealer to have it married. Ext time I run into this I will go to dealer and install all components in their parking lot and push it in for the programming.

Default 2013 security

OK, thanks for the reply. I did have to go to the dealer and have them add it. with all of the parts installed on the bike they only charged me for 15 minutes of labor so I am going to repay them with more of my business I also had them add the option to disable the rear cylinder when I am stopped in traffic. On the 2013 fatbob it cannot be done with the hand controls like the bigger bikes can. It is a dealer configurable option too.

The dealers here charge 95/hr. But it only takes five minutes to configure the modules to accept the replacement module. The hard part is installing the siren . The other parts just snap in without to much effort. I think they bill for two hours for the whole install. IF they have to put one part. In for you I think they add a lot more time to the install...

Call all of the dealers that you are willing to ride to and see if one will bill you for 15min labor if all of the hardware is in place. I am a new Harley guy but it seems like the less busy the dealer is the better your chances of getting better work and support. I dislike being required to go to the dealer for work but if they allow us to do as much as possible and they charge reasonable rates based on real labor time I am willing to comply especially if it keeps us riding safer and the computers on the bike more secure.
