I tried to disassemble the amp multilock using a paper clip. I got the black and blue wire out but I couldn't get the violet out. So I decided to reassemble the black and blue wire and I can't get them to lock into place.
Did I screw up the multilock? Do I just need to go buy another one? and how should I get the violet wire out?
Everyone one says use a paper clip but depending on the size of the paper clip you can make it more difficult, because its either to big or not big enough and bends to easily. I personally prefer to use a large sewing needle. about a 2 inch one dull the point and use the 'eye' end its a little flat and works great, and its pretty close to a true 'amp' socket tool.
Thank you for the suggestion OKC, I didn't have a sewing pin and I saw another post saying try a jewelers flat screw driver and I had a small set for my eye glasses. Well that worked. So I tried putting together the connectors. Couldn't get them to snap in. Tried for 30 mins. Frustrated, I got to looking at the pin. Turns out who ever crimped the pins, crimped in the locking flaps.
Straighten them out and heard the click sound when I put them in. A little dielectric grease (I learned from mud's video) now the lights work again. It's a wonder they worked before.
I use a safety pin to take AMP connecters out of the plastic housing. Make sure you have the locking tab open before you try to remove the connecter from the plastic housing.
