I have a 2016 iron 883 the dealer installed an alarm system and the red light stays on the speedo when I'm riding. I asked them about it they said that's normal. I noticed the other day I have no brake lights. The running lights are on, but the brake lights do not activate. I'm getting a error code b2161 and the pn is 69994-128. Any advice?
The red key light is used to indicate two different situations:
1. Security System Status
2. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Status
Your 2016 bike has a CAN-Bus electrical system. In short a CAN-Bus system can communicate with electrical components. A common mistake is installing electrical accessories that are not CAN-Bus compatible. For example: at an auto parts store you will see LED stop/turn/run (1157) bulbs sold in two different flavors, CAN-Bus compatible and not compatible.
If you have not made any changes to the stock electrical system, since you have a bike that should still be under warrenty, I would bring it to a dealer.

I have a 2016 FLHX street glide. I also had a security system installed by hd dealer. I am having the exact same problem as you. Same codes also. Let me know the fix for it. If I get mine resolved I'll post it here.
The red key is telling you you have a bulb out in this case.
Do you not get brake light with both front lever and brake pedal?
No brake lights with front lever or rear pedal. The HD shop says the systemw as set up wrong. The system is not recognizingt he brake lights. I am taking it back to dealer this week.
Thanks for the advice. I took the bike back to the dealer and they reprogramed it. No problems since.
