Charging Battery
I bought a Deltran Batt Tender Jr to hookup to my battery during the cold days that I don't ride. Is this a good battery tender to Use? Also, I have a Brand new full charged Battery that I got about a month ago after I found out that the old battery that was in the bike was 2 yrs old and the bike was sitting idle for about 6 months. This is how I got a new Battery. The bike was hard to start, I would press start switch and 2-3 seconds later it would start. It did that for about a week. Then One morning I went out and the bike would Start, so that's when I go the Deltran Batt tender Jr. hooked it up to battery and left it on the batt until the tender light turned green. Press Start switch same thing 2-3 sec delay then starts up. So, after I got back from work I parked bike and covered it up put Battery tender on it because it was going to be about 3 days before I rode the bike. Well, went out to bike the Batt tender light was green and unhooked it from batt and pressed start switch and the motor turn like it was real cold. Then nothing but a clinking sound like the Battery was dead. So I tried to jump it off and no luck. Took Battery out my son to me to HD shop and the batt was shot. So, I had to buy a brand new Battery. Now having a new fully charged battery if I put the tender on it, the tender shouldn't overcharge it right?

The Battery Tender Jr is called a smart charger. It monitors the batteries charge and adjusts the output so the battery is not overcharged. Lots of good information on their site:

You will have no problem with the new battery on the Battery Tender Jr. it should maintain your new battery, and as stated it will not overcharge.
