Default Voltage issues

New to forum, sorry if I screw up. I have a 2012 Street glide. Just replaced battery and while riding my volt meter on dash pegged out on high side. The radio would go off for about 15 seconds , come back on, go off etc.. I noticed radio first because I thought I was getting a phone call. Phone was hooked up playing music. Turned bike off then restarted no problem. Next day rode half day , no problem then started up went 50 ft. Or so and same thing. Shut it off restarted it and no problems rest of day. I've checked battery cables they are tight and clean. Any ideas. ALL Harley wants is for me to bring it in and run checks.

Not many conditions can lead to an over voltage condition other than the regulator. Although this is not a common failure mode of the regulator. My opinion FWIW...is the regulator. It's an easy replacement.

I agree, you have a problem with the voltage regulator. 2012's had lots of VR problems. Get it changed out before the high voltage causes other problems.

Thanks for the input. I'm ordering one now. Any suggestions on where to find a good one. My Harley dealer wanted 260.00. I figured that was high.

Default Regulator type

Is the harley regulator a mosfet type, do I need this type? They say they run cooler and don't use as much power.

Just go with the HD OEM. But, the price you were quoted is too high. Look around,
