Smile Fuse to lights harness

Thanks to all for your input, but I have to admit...I should have listened to everyone's advice. Here is the latest....I disconnected the rear wire harness to the rear fender. With the key on, I turned the handlebars to the left, and I clearly heard the lights fuse blow. I did it a second time the same way, and it blew again. So, this was without the engine on, and obviously, without a back fire. This means the back firing is another issue, and not related to the fuse blowing. Without taking off the gas tank, I looked at both sides of the wire harness which comes out of the dash, and around the neck, but could not find any wire breaks. I wiggled all wires, but could not get it to blow the fuse. I also turned the handle bars back and forth, but could not get it to duplicate the problem, other than those two times. It looks like I will need to remove the tank and also the wire harness in order to inspect every single inch. Is this particular wire harness expensive? And is it a pain to do, or should I have an independent shop do the work?

skinman13, I am the second owner, and I believe the first owner attached a small wire harness which allows the light on the sissy bar, as well as the front and rear running lights, to remain on at all times. Since I removed this wire harness during the test, and the fuses still blew, I believe that is not the culprit. As mentioned previously, the only other thing I did was run the wire under the tank (without removing it) for the tuner, but the tuner is still working ok.
