Help - 05 Sportster 883 custom Electrical Problem

Help - 05 Sportster 883 custom Electrical Problem
Looking for assistance diagnosing electrical problem with my sportster. This is my first bike and all around I'm new to riding.
For the last few days I noticed the right turn signal was not working/working intermittently. When I tried the flashers, only left would flash. I figured the turn signal switch was going bad. Not sure if this is related to what happened next, but I suspect so.
Today I leave work and after a block it started to run bad, give it throttle and it was sputtering, couldn't accelerate, engine light comes on. I pull over in a parking lot, shut off for a minute, start back up and same thing. Got off bike, checked spark plug wires, sat at idle for a minute and then noticed a strong electrical smell and a little bit of smoking coming out from under the right side of the seat....great...
But that's not it, then I hear what sounds like light popping....the ignition coil starts leaking (melting?)
So I'm assuming at this point I will have to replace the ignition coil and ECM. As I write this, the bike is still in the lot I pulled over at, so that's my next step, getting the bike home.
Any advice? Agree it's probably the ECM and need to replace the coil? Anything else it could be? Thanks in advance for any replies.
