Blinker issue.

Blinker issue.
Just bought a '97 Heritage Softail Classic & can't turn on the right blinker from switch but when I hit the brake pedal the brake light comes on & the right turn signal starts blinking & won't turn off unless I hit brake pedal again.
Suggestions?

The easiest and cheapest thing to try first is replacing the bulb. You most likely have a 1157 bulb with two filaments. One filament is for the blinker and one is for the brake light. When the brake and blinker are on at the same time I think the Brake filament blinks. The blinker only filament is probably blown.

Unless you have a converter to convert your rear turn signals to also work as brake lights, then your turn signal is separate from your brake light. If you do have a converter, try disconnecting that first to see if that is defective.
If that does not fix your problem, it could be a wiring problem. Have the handlebars or hand controls been changed recently?
