Hi Paul and welcome to the forum. Being new to motorcycles the 2012 883 will be a fun ride. I'm not real familiar with the Sportsters but I can give you links to the electrical Schematics : if you look at the Main Harness 2012 Sportster drawing you'll see a fuse for lighting. A blue wire comes off the fuse and if you follow it you'll see it goes to a connector at he top of the drawing, connector 31A and it tells you to see Lighting 2 of 2. scroll down to that drawing. On Lighting 2 of 2 in the upper left you find the front lighting, connector 31B and 2 blue wires to the running lamps.
Did you take a look at the bulb it is a dual element, one for turn and one for running light. Maybe you just need a new bulb? If you have a volt meter perhaps you could check the blue wire to see if it has voltage at the connector. https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson....d-d44bf7213f3d
hey guys thank y'all for helping out! bill once I read the "duel element " about the bulb it made sense to what the problem was. 7 dollar fix......it was the darn bulb!! sort of feel like an idiot. i was more upset cause I just got the bike so it sort of irritated me, including tires that dry rotted within the month.....anyways thanks guys made my day to see all the lights working!!
