Default testing a voltage regulator

What is the correct way to test a voltage regulator? Preferably if it's disconnected from the bike or the bike is not running at the moment but you want to test it if it works good or not.

You're in the Tech Electrical section! Go to the Stickies at the top of the index, where you will find a couple on testing the charging circuit.
