How you doing everyone I'm new on the form and I need some help I have a 97Sportster 1200lx custom in my garage and the brake lights aren't working I can't tell if the brake lights are stuck on or if its the running lights are on but They don't come on when I try the front brakes or the back brakes. I have an LED tale light I looked at the front switch it looks ok it's not stuck in or anything an I tried putting a paper clip in the back switchs two wires an nothing happens under the seat I only have them breaker fuses not sure how to test them I tried switching the one that runs my headlights and the brakes with another one from the bike when I pulled it out the Headlights an tale light went out but when I switched it nothing happened I did do the brakes about a month ago so I had to compress the calipers I don't know if that did anything because I don't know when it stop working other then that I didn't do anything to the bike I tried looking at a diagram but not to sure how to apply it to the bike it's the first time I ever looked at a wire diagram but I could really use some help I was in a bad accident two years ago an had to learn how to walk again so I've been out of work for a little so I really don't have the funds to put it in the shop if anyone has any suggestions or had the problem before please let me know ........ You describe an LED tail light.
Do you mean an LED 1157 replacement bulb in the original assembly or some kind of LED tail light assembly?
The first thing to check would be electricity at the socket or tail light assembly with a digital or analog voltage meter..Harbor Freight has coupons for free meters or you can just purchase one someplace.
Consider checking the wires under the rear fender, if rear of bike was lowered during its life then it might have caused tire to rub against wires under the fender.

It's a hole LED assembly I'll have to look again for any dam wires I do didn't see any my first go around I have a meter I tried testing the two wires that go into the rear switch and I didn't get any reading I thought one would be hot all the time
