Hello group,
I have a 2014 Streetglide and moved back home and traillered my bike. Put it into transport mode and everything is good. Got to my destination took the bike down and bike wouldn't start but accy would come on. The FOB should have recognized but it didn't. Called HD and they told me pull the LH circuit breaker for about 10-15 min replace and try again. If that doesn't work the FOB might need a new battery. Well No joy so I went and got a battery for the fob. Replaced the battery in the fob and came back to bike and now NOTHING happens, not even accy lights come on it's just dead. Thought actual motorcycle battery was dead so put it on a charger and it's good but the bike is still silent. Anybody have any ideas what the hell happened or Am I just stuck and have to take it to HD?
Yes, I had my other fob forwarded to me and it's still no joy. It's dead like there is no battery but I tried 2 battery chargers/tenders and the battery is good.
Any chance the bike is parked near automatic sliding doors, or something else with a sensor. I have heard that may screw with the fob to bike connection.
Group,
This problem was something small but can be over looked easily. Like Inwas saying the bike seemed like there was no battery installed but the battery was fully charged. So I looked again at all the fuses on the LH side and none were blown, HOWEVER I noticed the main fuse (50A) had some corrosion on one of the terminals. Cleaned it off and sprayed some electrical contact cleaner on the fuse and the socket. Turn on the acc, and got power, went and got my FOB and my baby came back to life. So the culprit was the corrosion on the fuse interrupted the power. Thank u guys for the suggestions. I would have been pissed if I ended up taking it to the dealership because of that and get charge a bunch of money for it.
Yes , the simple things are usually the last to be looked at ,,,, With regard to fuses, (all fuses and relays), once or twice a year when you doing a basic maintenance check , is to pull them all , give the metal prongs a wipe with emery paper and push them back in and out a couple of times...
If you have security ,, turn ignition on,, wait for security to disable ,, then pull Maxi fuse ....When finished cleaning fuses ,, install Maxi fuse .....
