You probably shouldn't be working on your bikes electrical without someone who knows how to guide you.
Until you get familiar with how and what's going on.

Is the new bulb a sealed beam aux lamp, if you can find a picture of the new aux lamp bulb I would like to see what you are talking about.

Pretty sure the OP is looking at 68208-98A Clear Lens with Halogen Bulb Auxiliary Lamp Bulb Kit.

If you buy the kit new it comes with a wiring kit (4 non-insulated ź” female spade connectors, 2 spade connector housings used on the negative lug on the rear of the bulb assembly and some shrink tubing. If the above is true, you cut the existing connectors off and install the connectors included in the kit. There are two different style spade connectors in the kit and care must be taken during installation.

Lastly, the negative lug for the bulb is located on the rear of the bulb next to the white positive lead. Not sure if I am allowed to paste a link from the MoCo website but if you go the site and paste 68208-98A in the search bar the product will come up. From there, scroll down until you see the Guides tab. Click on that and it will have the installation instructions.

Good luck.

Quick correction to my post above. The connector housings I mention are actually used on the positive lead to cover the non-insulated spade fitting, not the negative lead. The fact of the matter is you could just go to your local auto or electronics supply store and purchase insulated crimp on spare connectors and those would work just fine.

The grey wire goes through the turn signal housing, if these are take offs they'll probably not reach where they're supposed to go.
Do you NEED to replace the bucket for cosmetic reasons?

Still awaiting OP. OP seems to have a different bulb type in mind and I would like to see what it was.

You worked through the problem and I know you are pleased that you found a good solution that works...this time...but what about the next time...and you know there will be a next time.
