Default RF Interference with HD Security

I had a strange thing happen today. I rode the bike over to South Mountain Park in Phoenix. You can ride up to the top of the mountain which overlooks the City of Phoenix and is a beautiful view. Also a fun ride as there are a lot of twisties riding up there. If you are familiar with Phoenix you know that is the location where many of the local TV/Radio stations have their transmission towers (I counted 28 of them while I was up there today). I parked the bike in a overlook spot that was directly opposite of all of those towers and overlooks Ahwatukee. Whenever I went to leave the bike would not start. It acted like it does whenever the key fob is out of range, but I knew it was in my pocket. Suspecting that RF interference might be the culprit, I coasted the bike down into a lower spot in the road and then I was able to get it started.

Anyone else ever have a similar experience either at South Mountain or somewhere else you may have ridden that is in very close proximity to Radio towers?

Good to know.

Now... go back and do it again, but this time see if it will start by using the PIN....

The PIN would have been my next thing to try, however, I do not remember how to use the PIN. The guy who delivered the bike to me at the dealer showed me how to do that once but I have forgotten how. I also did not get an owners manual with the bike. If it wouldn't have started I'd have either called my son, who knows how to do it or called the dealer. Guess I better figure it out huh?

UPDATE: Figured it out. (Watched a you tube vid)

Yes - excessive interference can affect the fob connectivity. I have seen it personally in Sturgis with the push button fobs were used. Many times had to hold them right up to the left handlebar (wire in there was used for antenna) to disable the alarms.

Well, I got my security PIN changed. I never did get the PIN to work to start the bike. First had trouble even getting the bike to enter the mode where you can enter the PIN, then whenever it would enter the mode the amount of time it gives you to enter the PIN is RIDICULOUSLY short. I ended up burning up the load equalizer for the panacea LED light system the bike has on it. Didn't even know it had one of those on it but now I do

That's just poor design on the aftermarket part if it burned up.
