When I went to pick up my new bike the other day the salesperson went to start it, and after he turned the key on it took about 15 seconds for everything to light up. He said that sometimes the security system inside the dealership wreaks havoc with the electronics on the new bikes.
yeah, this can happen at anyplace where a bunch of bikes are parked close- they all use the same radio frequency, so the alarm and fob may not find each other right away.
this can also happen at gas pumps like mobil that use the speedpass.
some guys have had to push the bike away from the pumps to get going.
there is only so much RF spectrum, and alot of devices all crowded up together.
my riding Pal and I have noticed some funny stuff over the years--- his bike started chirping as we rode side by each at 70 MPH...sometimes alarm fob confusion if we both turn on ignition at the same time, better one, then the other
( these are 09 and 11 models)

Yep, this used to happen to my sportster all the time when I parked at my work in an underground garage that had an RFID keyless entry for the stairs. I would park in the space next to the door, in sight of the cameras. If I was too close to the unit, my bike wouldn't start. It was only about two feet away, when I moved about another foot back and it would work.

another great reason to learn how to use your security override code. i would rather push a couple buttons with my thumbs then push my bike around the parking lot.....
practice the procedure a couple of times, and no one will even notice that you have to do it, you can get pretty quick at it.
Not doubting you guys but this does surprise me. EMC compliance is supposed to ensure this exact thing doesn't happen. These components should be certified do clearly this testing is not arduous enough
