even the parts supplied by Harley in Harley packaging have that "Made in China"
I want to keep the original look of my bike, but have a brighter light for both daytime (others see me) and nighttime (better visibility), so a replacement bulb is what I will be using. I will post up how the LED bulb works
for those interested.
Looking to upgrade my old beat up headlight on my '98 sportster for some fancy LED like a Kuryahkhin or the daymakers... but I cant find anything online that seems to fit.
Most don't come in the 5 3/4" just the 7". You could just use a drop in bulb as was suggested earlier in the thread, or just look for the 5 3/4" headlamp.
American made, J .W. Speaker LED headlamp entire assembly. The same company that makes Daymaker Lamps but I choose to cut out Harley Davidson's mark up.
I buy Chines when it can not be avoided. What I don't like is the deception when you think your buying something your not getting. If I wanted a Chines $40.00 LED headlight I expect to get a Chines $40.00 headlight. When I'm charged $200.00 for the same exact $40.00 Chines headlight that's been repackaged and rebranded I have a problem. Don't ask don't tell. I use to buy only Craftsman tools. But, since Craftsman's are mostly made in China (with a few exception) I switched to buying tools a Hobo Freight. If you look at tools offered at Lowe's or Home Cheapo they are the same exact tools repackaged and rebranded that you'd buy a Hobo Freight. The only difference is Hobo Freight Tools are on average 1/3 cheaper. I am not paying obscene Snap On prices either because some of their tools are coming from China also. I bought $900.00 in Leopold Optics. The outside package - Leopold and American Company. Open the box and in small print - Made in China. They were good products but I took them back to the store I bought them from.
So today I got the LED replacement bulb. Took couple of minutes to install it and my first impression is this is a big change from factory. Night time ride will tell for sure
The LED fit as it should, the rubber seal for the lamp fit with no issue, no "extra" components or wire to stuff into the headlight housing either.
Fanless Motorcycle H4 9003 LED Bulbs Forward High Beam and Low Beam, Upgraded 2 Sides CSP Chips 360° illumination Lighting × 1
Sold through AUXITO, part # Auxito M4, free shipping, bought it through Amazon
straydog13 running at night on low beam, I get a better illumination - ditch to ditch - and further lite area ahead of the bike. On high beam, the lite area is a lot further down the road, better ditch to ditch (better to see
what is there) when compared to the OEM bulb
The bulb is brighter than OEM, and oncoming traffic does see it as they come towards me
This LED was a direct replacement, no modifications and it fit into the hood/shield inside the housing
I did re-adjust my headlight to get the most illumination
Yes I would recommend this as an alternative to replacing the complete headlamp assembly
LED replacement bulb $35
LED Headlamp assembly north of $500....and it takes away from the look of the bike in my opinion
Keep in mind I am from Canada so our prices will be different to USA prices
