speedometer
im not arguing with you. im just sayin that EVERYONE i have contacted, harley, J&p, dennis kirk, v twin, drag specialties etc, have all said the same thing. oem discontued, no aftermarket to replace it, (other than gps) used prices for oem are at new levels, and the aftermarkets that "claim" will work are in the hundreds also. too rich for my blood just on someone word that something works. now if someone steps foward and says, "hey, i got this on my 96 and it works, id like to talk to them.

no, no reason, just that they were adamant that bikes with that setup dont have a replacement.in fact non of them could say why, just that there is no replacement. im no rocket scientist, and generally suck at electrical, but usually can hold my own with minimal guidance. but with so many saying it cant be done, even though it seems theres proof that it has been done, you would think all these "experts" would know. and with so much doubt from the "experts", im just gonna go gps for now til i get some solid answers
Consider review for AC voltage.
It would be rather sad to purchase a speedometer, install and then burn another speedometer and electronics.
Have you checked for AC voltage?
As mentioned before..The regulator converts the stator AC voltage to DC but the regulator can go bad and leak AC voltage.
Here is another link for dakota digital.
Take a look at their manual for your application..
Review wiring.
