I'm going to attempt to repair my factory speedometer. I've done this successfully in automobiles and it required preloading the speedo so it would read the proper speed. In VWs it was putting the needle on past the start pin on the speedo then lifting the needle over it. Does anybody know if i would have to do the same with the speedo for my 83 XLS Roadster? I would like to do it only once because taking the speedo apart is a pain in the rear as it is.
