The bike I am working on has an 07 6-speed transmission. The bike itself is an 06 Night Train. The wiring harness is an 06 NT.
Situation: in order for the receptacle at the end of the speed sensor to match up with the wiring harness I’m using an 06 speed sensor (5-speed box).
Question: Will using a 5-speed sensor on a 6-speed trans work?
Or should I graft the 5-speed receptacle end onto the 07 speed sensor?

For 1, I didn't know whether or not a 07-up six speed softail tranny would fit a 06 - earlier softail. If it worked, cool. Rubber mounts are not interchangeable due to oil tank passages.
I suspect that if the speedo sensors are the same from the tranny surface down then the early sensor will work. If not you'll have to swap connectors. One thing to note is that the speed will likely be off and you'll need some sort of flash program or aftermarket efi programmer to get the speedo reading correct.
I’ve been doing my homework. I have checked Ronnie’s H-D and the sensors are different. Actually the 06 5-speed sensor is shorter where it slides into the the trans. It also has a pigtail where the 07 sensor has a female receptacle without a pigtail.
The 07 six speed is mounted behind an 07 96”. Both fit in an 06 Night Train frame.
The 06 sensor has red, white and black wires. I’m at the point of trying to determine which of the three prongs on the 07 sensor correspond with the 06 wires.
