Default 1992 Electra Glide FLHS

Hi fellas, new here and hoping to get help from someone. I bought this '92 FLHS and the trunk lights were directly wired to the hot side of the battery. This is how I found it, and I want it wired correctly.

1. Can anyone tell me or have a diagram showing how the trunk lights connect to the bike wiring?
2. On the '92 do the trunk lights serve as both, running & brake lights?

Thanks Dan! Hopefully I can figure it out, especially with the mess someone has in the trunk as you can see.

A couple of things wrong here. The '92 FLHS did not have a tour pak (trunk). If this is truly an FLHS it was added sometime after the initial sale so who knows what they did. The Electra Glide Sport (FLHS) did not have a fairing either. Is it possible that this is an Electa Glide Classic (FLHTC)? The were no lights in the FLHTC tour pak as delivered. It appears you are dealing with a homemade mess. Good luck.

Yes sir, someone did add the trunk and the fairing. The fairing looks to be off of a 2012 or so. My VIN is coming up FLHS Sport so you're right. I almost have it right, except one light gives a bright brake light, the other gives normal running light. Both truck side lights are also normal. I'll try a make a quick video someone has fabricated.

I've made a good video showing what I have but this site won't let me upload it.

These are the trunk taillights.

"quote: When I power up at the ignition switch one bulb gives running light illumination. The other bulb gives a brighter brake light illumination."

Do both bulbs have double filament and 12V P21/5W stamped on them? It sounds like one bulb is mounted into the fitting in the wrong way and or the wiring at one fitting has to be switched

Yes, both have double filaments. I found not only an incorrect 1176 bulb in one socket. But, it also was in backwards. I put two new 1157 bulbs in and now I have taillights & brake lights when rear pedal is engaged. Now, hopefully all the wiring is correct on the relay someone has in the trunk. I have no idea....

Did you manage to find out where this 2 wired harness comes from?

This plug looks like plug # 22B in the 1991 FLHS Domestic Models Wiring Diagram (attached). Red seems to be stoplight and Green seems to be rear light and rear fender tip lamp.

Blue and red seem to be collors used in the trunk and fender tip light of the FLTC Ultra

See my remark above. It looks to me the relay is not used.
Normally the relay pins are wired as follows:

30 is connection to battery
85 is connected to ground
86 is connected to switched power
87 is normal open (NO)
87a is normal closed (NC) contact

I have no clue why that 5 pin relay is in your trunk. Here's a link to some more info on the use of relays.
