Default Sportster starting issues

I have a '16 Sportster Iron 883, this particular model starts wether it's in gear or not and regardless if jiffy stand is up or down. That said, it now only starts intermittently when it's in gear. It's been progressively getting worse. Most of the time it won't start in gear, but it does start in Neutral. So all the lights, gauges, and fuel pump power on when I hit the start button but nothing happens. There is no clicking because this year/model doesn't have a relay so there's only silence. If I fiddle with the switch long enough it'll eventually start in gear. Battery voltage is at 13.2 and all connections tight. I was told it can't be the ECM because everything would've shut down. There are no codes or lights coming on. My only guess is maybe the clutch switch? Anyone else have this issue happen before?

There is a clutch lever interlock switch inside the control housing. Might be going bad. Sounds like the jiffy stand interlock switch has already been bypassed. Just a Word of Caution, from a Grey Beard. No matter how good you are, sometimes sh*t happens when ya start a motorcycle in gear. Put in neutral.

Thanks for the suggestion. Think I'll get in the habit of starting from neutral. I'll definitely look into that switch in the control housing. One thing I do have to say since switching over to Harleys from my Kawasaki Ninja 1000, these Harleys are quite expensive to keep up. Still love the ride, but man... definitely not a poor man's hobby. Lol.

883 Iron is a great little bike . . . . but you will outgrow it in a couple of years. Now you are learning about what HD stands for . . . HUNDRED DOLLARS.

Default Problem solved!

It was my clutch switch that makes contact with clutch lever. Bought one at Harley $20. Had to cut, splice, & solder. Starts perfectly!
