Hi guys. New on here, so if i'm on the wrong page, my apologies.
Recently bought a 2002 CVO Dyna that is in need of a little cosmetic work. It's been fine until i parked it up before my holiday. 2 weeks after the holiday, i got it out of the garage and it turns over etc etc but does not fire. I've put new Screamin Eagle leads and plugs, but still no spark. Is it possible for a crank sensor or ignition coil to stop working suddenly ? Anybody tell me how i can check the ignition side of the coil, as mine has a 3 pin plug attachment, not the 2 wire type. I've checked across the Primary leads and am getting 12000 ohms, but need to check the coil side. I have 12v to the centre pin.
As i say, it does everything it should, but won't fire up (spark). It was fine when i parked it. Any help gratefully appreciated.
ps New fob battery and 12v battery on the bike.
Sorry Im only beginning to learn about Harleys, but on cars CPS and ignition units can fail immediately. In fact I think with electronics its common for units to fail without warning.
Pull the connector at coil center pin should be 12 volts. Pin one of black connector on ignition should have power. white with black wire. This is the same wire that goes to date link connector. You can check there. Doesn't guarantee good everywhere
Myself I would replace the crank for the hell of it at some point, it may or may not be orginal. Use a piece of weed wacker line to pull old one through loom and then new one back.

I have 12v at the centre pin, but not on either of the two other wires. I was sent a link to an old post on here with the same fault. It turned out to be a bad earth connection, but i'm way past that now.
You should only have 12 volts at the center. I believe the other two are sent grounds to fire from the module. Did it ever run for you?
TSM also sends a ground to the igniton module on pin 10 to enable spark. Then you got MAP and CPK. The CPK sends back an AC signal. check it with the plugs in. Not sure what it should be. Myself, I would tempted to replace CPK,. It is not all that expensive. Coils are a little bit more. But my 2001 at 90k is on its 3rd. My 2007 I replaced at 70k when I had the tank off. Different design, not sure of that makes a difference.
I'd probably do the coil too. I realize easy to spend other peoples money. But it could be 20 years old.

Hell, just change everything electrical including the harness! Seriously though, trouble shoot the issue and only replace what’s defective.
