I tried this H4 bulb in my '09 RK Classic but it seems blindingly bright when I look at it. Just wondering if anyone is using a bulb like this versus an entire LED headlight.
I got the bulb from a friend who wasn't using it so the price was right but just looking for input. I've heard that they really aren't designed to work with the standard headlight reflector.
So ride it at night and see if the "pattern" is good or not.
Good idea but that won't be happening for quite some time. We just pulled out of below zero temperatures here but the roads are still covered in salt and a foot of snow on the ground that isn't melting much.
I just figured I'd ask around for feedback while the bike is sitting.

I also want to avoid having people flash their lights at me thinking I have high beams on. I get annoyed when headlights are excessively bright or aimed too high so don't want to do that to others.
LEDs refract light differently than incandescent. And dont work well with the standard bulb fluting. I hope theyve improved this over time. And that it works out for you.

Take my advice, if you want an LED headlamp ,buy a complete unit from a reputable seller like Eaglelights or Custom dynamics. I went the route you're on with a drop in LED "bulb", extremely bright but pattern all over the place. The reflector for a incandescent bulb is not correct for LED's. Check out Headlight Revolutions videos on Youtube very informative.
hid bulb and it will be blindingly hot to boot. make sure you use a ceramic bulb socket. if it is on the blue side of the spectrum 6k+ it will wash out on a dark night. also consider the focal plane. if the bulb is not in the sweet spot of the reflector, the beam will scatter for good/bad.
