I just got this shovel, and other than needing some tunning with the ss e carb, is a pretty solid running bike. I had a weird problem though a few days ago. I was riding with my girlfriend on the back. everything is cool. i decide to go fuel it up, but when i go back to start it theres not enough charge in the battery to turn the motor. the starter kicks out and spins, but doesnt turn the motor. Now, the light and all still work nice. So, i get it charged and sure enough am able to ride it home. However when i get it home to look the bike over, i decide to try starting it again and sure enough the same thing. In fact, i have to hook up a battery charger for about ten minutes to get enough juice to get the starter to engage the starter ring and turn the motor. I can have the battery charged for an entire day, but unless its actually hooked up to a charger it WILL NOT turn over. The battery will also hold a charge, enough to keep lights on, so it doesnt fully die. I tried the origional battery and a pratically new one! Same thing with both! What would cause it to lose charge, but never fully discharge it? Oh yes, and several days after that the problem stopped. Is it possible for the battery to be fully charged but somehow not get the volts to push it through to the starter? And when the bikes running, its running good.
