Speedometer acting up

Speedometer acting up

My speedometer is acting up. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have already replaced the speed sensor ( a royal pain in the butt) but that hasn't corrected the problem.

Any suggestions as to what is wrong?

My 2009 iron did that. you would be going down the road and it would fall to 0 for about 30 sec then start again. They never did figure it out. H-D replaced my whole bike because of that problem and some other problems . I had tons of trouble out of that bike. the replaced the ecm too and that didnt fix it.

Yeah it really frustrating. Sometimes when I turn on the accessories the speedometer will make an entire sweep of the gauge and begin working again and, more often than not, it won't. The guy who owned the bike before me left it out in the elements (Florida rain) and that probably had something to do with the problem.

I had issues with the warning lights on my speedo. turned out to be loose terminals on the battery. They will vibrate loose sometimes. Could be a grounding issue as well.

I had a 2000 softail deuce the speedo would cut out it was the ignition switch changed that no more problem.

Thank you all for your help. I noticed that the switch has a lot of slack in it and I am going to take rodney123456's advice and get a new switch.
