I have narrowed down my cruise problems to the set/resume switch, I had the switch housing opened up but could not get the switch out. Any tips for removing the switch and pulling the wires out of the bar would be appreciated.
This is on my 2006 flhtcuse so the bars are internally wired.
The switch replacement procedure is well explained in the HD Service Manual. If you don't have one, the procedure is to basically open the switch housing, remove the existing switch (you'll need to cut the existing wires so do so close to the switch to leave plenty of wire), and splice in the replacement switch using solder and heat shrink.
Because your wiring is in the handlebars, you may gain some additonal "working room" with the switch harness wiring by disconnecting the right side switch harness connector inside the fairing from the interconnect harness.

Have you positively found a problem with the switch itself through testing ?
The reason here is the roll off switch can cause problems with the set of the CC if there is excessive cable lash or if it has been adjusted recently and too much lash exists.
I followed the diagnostic procedure in the manual and the problem leads back to the set/resume switch. I have tested the roll of switch and it seems ok. When I test the set/resume switch it should read infinity at the cruise module on the two wires tested when not engaged and the meter should read .5 ohms or less when engaged....it reads .675K ohms when not engaged and it reads .2ohms when engaged.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Props to you for using the EDM! The set/resume also will not work if either brake switch is malfunctioning; ususally evidenced by the brake light being "on" when neither the lever or pedal is engaged.
Hope you find the solution. And, again, props for using the EDM; most don't.
Well I spent the $90bucks for a new set/resume switch and went through the nightmare of changing it. Internal wiring is nice but is not fun to work on.
But it was all worth the trouble......my cruise works!!!!!!!
