I guess this could've gone in video or electrical post, so here goes...I just picked up a GoPro3 and want to be sure not to fry it if I need to charge it while on the bike(FLHR). I added the 12v accessory plug to my aux harness and have a question.
Am I safe to plug in a USB adapter to the switch(acces plug) and the camera straight to that, or do I need some type of in-line fuse between camera and power connection? Your knowledge will be appreciated...
Any electrical devices you attach to your bike you want to make sure you fuse properly. Did your GP3 not come with an adaptor or fused plug for charging?

The camera came with the cable to charge when using the household outlet. Maybe I should just pm Steevo
Your comment on a fused plug is exactly what I'm trying to get sorted out, thanks,Pat
yes you can. most cig lighter usb chargers will have some sort of fuse in it. according to the specs, each port on the auto and home charger is good for 1amp max so make sure the fuse that is in the usb charger is no more than 1 amp if it's a single port or 2 amp for a dual port.
I use the computer USB cord, plugged into a dual USB power port to power my Hero2. Works like a champ. It's designed to run off the vehicle's electrical power. There's a 'step down' piece in the cord that you can see in the picture.
On a recent 8 day trip, I had it plugged in for 8-10 hours a day. Then at night it had a fully charged battery without me having to make sure to charge it before using it.
As previously mentioned, ALWAYS use a fused connection on ANY electrical device. The results of not having one can be very disappointing.
