LED lights
Has anyone tried to replace your standard tail or signal light bulbs with a LED replacement? It sure looks like it would fit, and is a lot cheaper then a whole new assemply.

lots of folks are doing it with those 1157 type LED bulbs found on eBay. Do a search here as I ran across a post just the other day that tells you which ones to stay away from.

Yep, I installed a low-profile laydown tail light lense on my '04 Dyna, and the OEM 3457 bulb touched it when installed so I was afraid it would melt the lense. So I installed this 25-LED 3157 bulb from SuperbrightLEDs.com for $13.
It is plug-n-play & works just fine BUT it is a 3157, and not a 3457. Which means the running light brightness matches the OEM incandescent bulb brightness exactly, but the brake light brightness is much less than the OEM incandescent bulb brightness. That's actually normal for a 3157. It normally has about 100 lumens less brightness on brake than a 3457.
It works for me & I'm satisfied with it, but you must be aware of the difference.
I've looked, but been unable to find an LED 3457.
The next step up is something like a $100 Radiantz 136 LED fixture, but that's a bit more $ than I'm willing to part with.
