Slow start issue 2012 softail
My softail seems to turn over very slowly after only a day or two sitting in the garage. I had the HD dealer check the battery and charging system. They said everything checked out OK. They even check all the connections. After I take the bike for a ride, if I stop during the trip, when I try to start it., the engine turns over very fast and fires right up. So I don't think it's a starter issue. Could it be the stock HD battery is just borderline for this size engine? Would I be better off going to a higher CA battery? Any experience with this issue, please share.

My bet is battery. Mine did the same thing. if they just checked the battery voltage and not a full load test, it will likely test ok. Mine would crank slow for a couple seconds, delay for a second, then fire up....even on a battery tender. The battery voltage tested fine, but didn't do so hot on the load test. A new stock battery solved the problem, she fires right up now.
