Default Maybe electrical interruption?

Hey everyone... I'm having an issue that I hope someone can help me with.

While riding, cruising around the backroads, my bike (2009 street bob) suddenly lurched a bit, causing me to be pushed forward in my seat. It felt as if I had suddenly taken my hand off the throttle for a split second. As that happened, I noticed my speedometer suddenly dropped to zero, then climbed back up to my current speed. My first thought was either bad gas, water in the tank, or maybe sparkplug/ignition issues. But with the speedo dropping to zero, it made me think that, maybe for a split second, the whole electrical system shut down. I think if it was just bad gas or water in the tank, the speedo wouldnt have dropped down to zero.

It then happened a 2nd time during the same ride, while coming up to a stop light, the same thing happened, along with a backfire. Same sudden deceleration, same speedometer drop.

After it happens, the engine feels like it's running weird for about 30 seconds to a minute. After I stopped at the stoplight on the 2nd incident, the engine felt like it was running at a higher than normal idle. Then a little while later (a minute or so), it came back to normal.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Make sure your battery connections are tight, and you've got a good ground.

Thanks guys for responding!!
I checked my battery connections and ground. They looked good but I cleaned them up and made sure they've got good connections. Unfortunately, this didnt solve the problem. It still loses power for half a second as I stated in the original post. I'm starting to wonder if it's fuel related, but if it was, would that cause the speedometer drop to zero when it happens?
Any other ideas?
Thanks guys!

Did you ever find out what was going on? Mine does the same thing once in a while. Dealer cleaned up all the electrical connections, and used dielectric grease. It was fine for couple hundred miles, now it's back.
