Hi guys just got my first bike its a softail with evo 1340. The bike wasn't charging so I replaced the voltage regulator. After I replaced it after a half hour or so of riding the bike would shut off and then I could fire it right back up. Cannot find this common issue within any threads. I'd appreciate any help . Thanks
I am having trouble with my charging system too. I did some diagnostics following the instructions in the following thread. It appears mine is the regulator so I ordered one. You may want to try the tests because it could be the stator.
I have a question for you though. Were you able to access the regulators connection to the main circuit breaker? My Clymer says I need to take the wheel off to get to it. I'm hoping there is an easier way.
The main breaker is on the rear splash pan snapped into a holder. Stick a screw driver under the breaker and pop it out of the holder. Pull it toward you, there should be enough wire that it will come out far enough to replace it. Best to disconnect the ground on the battery first.
